Our work in local prisons

Prisons

People who are serving custodial sentences are at a substantially increased risk of suicide and self-harm. As part of Samaritans programme of work in prisons, volunteers from Belfast branch regularly visit Maghaberry and Hydebank to provide the same sort of support that we offer to our callers.

Over the last few years with the support and co-operation of the prison service and prisoners we have provided training and support for the development of listening schemes within the prisons. <Read more about our work in prisons>
