As well as 24/7  emotional support volunteers from Belfast Samaritans provide many other services to the Greater Belfast area

Prison Support

Belfast Samaritans work to support prisoners in two ways:

1. Volunteers visit Maghaberry prison and Hydebank Young Offenders Centre to offer emotional support directly to prisoners face-to-face. Prisoners are welcome to contact Samaritans themselves in the normal ways.
2. Prisoner Listener schemes – volunteers go into Maghaberry prison and select, train and support prisoners to listen to their fellow inmates. These Listeners befriend fellow prisoners in line with the values of Samaritans.     
3. Prisoners also have access to a mobile phone on each landing which they can use to contact Samaritans directly at any time of the day or night if they are in need of emotional support
