Outreach in Schools

Belfast Samaritans accept that a successful emotional health strategy is important in today’s fast changing world. That is why we try to work with schools as much as possible. Recently we contacted all secondary and grammar schools within the Belfast area to make school Principals aware of the full range of services that Samaritans can provide ranging from email, telephone through to our innovative text service which is to be rolled out to even more Samaritan branches across the UK and Ireland .

Our young are the future of our country and our commitment to reach out to them to ensure that their emotional health is catered for remains a strong Samaritan aim. Schools are an ideal setting for reaching out to large numbers of young people, many of whom can be in a vulnerable state of mind because of exam pressures, problems at home and the problems of growing up.

Belfast Samaritans visit schools to provide talks on the range of services we provide including Samaritans very own successful DEAL programme (Delivering Emotional Awareness and Learning). We also provide talks to youth groups and community and social and professional groups of all ages.
